Thanksgiving Food Recipe Ideas!

Thanksgiving Recipes

Green Bean Casserole

2 tablespoons oil
1/2 medium onion diced
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cups sliced green beans
chicken stock cube
300ml can cream of mushroom soup
1 tsp garlic powder/diced
pinch salt & pepper
1 cup grated Cheddar

Pre-heat oven to 350F / 180C. Saute the onions, mushrooms & garlic in the oil. Boil green beans along with 2/3rds of stock cube for 10 minutes and drain. Add the green beans, mushroom soup & seasoning to the onion mixture. Stir well. Pour into a greased baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the Cheddar and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until the casserole is hot and cheese is melted.

Candied Yams

2 Sweet Potatoes
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup
1  cups miniature marshmallows

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Cut sweet potatoes into roughly 1.5 inch chunks and boil until almost cooked. Melt butter in a pan on a low heat and add in the sugar and half the marshmallows. Add in the sweet potatoes and lightly mash a third of the potatoes. Mix well. Pour it into a baking dish and layer with the remainder of the miniature marshmallows. Bake in the preheated oven 20 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender and marshmallows have melted.

Pumpkin Pie Mousse

1/3rd can pumpkin puree
330ml double (heavy) cream
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Ginger snaps, for garnish


Combine pumpkin, 1/3rd of the cream, sugar and spices in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. Cool fully in fridge or freezer. Whip remaining cream and vanilla to soft peaks and fold into cooled pumpkin mixture. Pour into a serving dish and crumble the ginger snaps over top before serving.
